Insensiblement, le propos s\u2019oriente plus \u00ab <strong>multicartes<\/strong> \u00bb que paillettes. L\u2019originalit\u00e9 domine avec des assemblages parfois h\u00e9t\u00e9roclites qui, \u00e0 l\u2019arriv\u00e9e, aboutissent \u00e0 d&rsquo;<strong>extravagantes \u00e9pop\u00e9es<\/strong> de trois minutes. Le structuration des morceaux favorise l\u2019<strong>exploration m\u00e9lodique<\/strong> d\u2019avantage que l\u2019impact radiophonique. Des petits bouts de notes s\u2019assemblent \u00e0 d\u2019autres pour finir sur les tympans, p\u00e9tillants, tel un <strong>plat gastronomique sur les papilles<\/strong>. Pourtant, en 1981, \u00ab <strong>Whomp that sucker<\/strong> \u00bb entretien l\u2019espoir d\u2019un retour aux <strong>\u00ab antipastis \u00bb d\u2019antan<\/strong>, m\u00eame si le son tr\u00e8s typ\u00e9 80\u2019s rend son \u00e9coute un soup\u00e7on d\u00e9sagr\u00e9able. Mais, esprits vagabonds, les fr\u00e8res Mael reprennent tr\u00e8s vite leur marche en avant vers d<strong>\u2019autres horizons<\/strong> \u2026 jusqu\u2019en 2017 et \u00ab <strong>Hippopotamus<\/strong> \u00bb. Ce dernier renferme des merveilles h\u00e9las au r\u00e9gime sans guitares (noy\u00e9es dans le mixe). Un comble lorsque l\u2019on sait que, sur sc\u00e8ne, deux de ces instruments encadrent les claviers du filiforme moustachu : Ron Mael.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A l\u2019entre deux ? Les quelques trente-cinq ans qui s\u00e9parent \u00ab Whomp that sucker \u00bb d\u2019\u00ab Hippopotamus \u00bb ?
