Parti le premier, <strong>Rat Scabies<\/strong> a mont\u00e9 <strong>THE WHITE CATS<\/strong> qui enregistrent des Peel sessions en avril et en ao\u00fbt. Deux titres sont ensuite utilis\u00e9s par les Damned: \u00abSecond Time Around\u00bb, rebaptis\u00e9 \u00abMachine Gun Etiquette\u00bb pour l&rsquo;album du m\u00eame nom et \u00abJunkyard Angels\u00bb qui devient \u00abSick of This And That\u00bb sur le Black Album. Apr\u00e8s quelques concerts (pas plus de cinq, semble-t-il), ils enregistrent une Peel session le 11 Juillet. Les 4 titres sont disponibles sur \u00abChildren of the Damned\u00bb et sur un EP officiel sorti en 2004 (Weizenheimer records). Le groupe sort un single \u00abI&rsquo;m Sorry, I&rsquo;m Sorry\u00bb et enregistre une Peel session le 2 ao\u00fbt (LP \u00abChildren Of The Damned\u00bb). Enfin, Dave Vanian fait un court passage au sein des <strong>DOCTORS OF MADNESS<\/strong>, avec qui il enregistre un titre, \u00abDon&rsquo;t Panic, England\u00bb, lui aussi disponible sur le bootleg \u00abChildren Of The Damned\u00bb.<\/p>\n<h3>Reformation des Damned ?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le 15 ao\u00fbt 1978, Rat Scabies joue avec les \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8res VICIOUS WHITE KIDS, groupe form\u00e9 par <a href=\"https:\/\/culturesco.com\/index.php\/2018\/12\/10\/sid-vicious-et-les-sex-pistols-anarchy-tour-usa-nancy-spungen-la-mort-de-sid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sid Vicious, avec Glen Matlock<\/a> et Steve New des Rich Kids. Apr\u00e8s le concert, Captain Sensible va voir son vieux compagnon backstage et lui propose de rejouer ensemble. Scabies est conscient que les White Cats n&rsquo;iront pas loin. L&rsquo;id\u00e9e fait rapidement son chemin et les deux acolytes contactent Dave Vanian pour former&#8230; THE DOOMED. Le nom du groupe change car \u00abThe Damned\u00bb appartient \u00e0 Brian James. Leur vieux pote <a href=\"https:\/\/culturesco.com\/index.php\/2018\/12\/27\/lemmy-kilmister-ace-of-spades-et-autres-morceaux-choisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Lemmy<\/strong> de <strong>Mot\u00f6rhead<\/strong><\/a> les d\u00e9panne pour un concert \u00e0 l&rsquo;Electric Ballroom le 5 Septembre. Pour cette occasion uniquement, ils se baptisent <strong>LES PUNKS<\/strong>. Le set est essentiellement compos\u00e9 de chansons des Damned, \u00e0 l&rsquo;exception de \u00abSilver Machine\u00bb d&rsquo;<strong>Hawkwind<\/strong>, \u00abKill\u00bb d&rsquo;Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoias et \u00abCity Kids\u00bb des Pink Fairies (reprise par Mot\u00f6rhead). Chacun est convaincu que les Damned doivent \u00eatre remis sur pied. Dans l&rsquo;imm\u00e9diat, ce sera donc The Doomed, et il leur faut un bassiste (Lemmy est trop occup\u00e9 avec Mot\u00f6rhead). Captain propose <strong>Henry Badowski<\/strong>, multi instrumentiste qui l&rsquo;a accompagn\u00e9 au sein de KING.<\/p>\n<h3>King &#8211; Jet boy Jet girl<\/h3>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KyY6MfRLn1Q<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apr\u00e8s quelques jours de r\u00e9p\u00e9titions, ils partent en tourn\u00e9e \u00e0 travers l&rsquo;Angleterre. Henry Badowski s&rsquo;est fait virer, et son rempla\u00e7ant s&rsquo;appelle <strong>Algy Ward<\/strong>, une connaissance de Captain Sensible, recrut\u00e9 un soir de cuite dans un pub. Algy est loin d&rsquo;\u00eatre manchot, son jeu de basse est proche de celui de Lemmy, puissant. L&rsquo;homme a par ailleurs fait ses preuves avec les Saints. Ils passent ensuite \u00e0 l&rsquo;Electric Ballroom de Londres o\u00f9 ils offrent un 45 tours aux 250 premiers spectateurs arriv\u00e9s sur place. Ce disque intitul\u00e9 \u00abDodgy demo\u00bb, est une \u00e9dition limit\u00e9e \u00e0 1000 copies. Il contient deux nouvelles chansons, \u00abLove Song\u00bb et \u00abBurglar\u00bb et se pr\u00e9sente comme un test-pressing avec labels blancs et une \u00e9tiquette sur la face A. Les 250 copies suivantes vont \u00eatre \u00e9galement offertes lors du concert \u00e0 Croydon le 7 Janvier 1979. Le reste du stock va se vendre par correspondance via le fan club.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1979 arrive. Brian James donne son accord pour l&rsquo;utilisation du nom The Damned.
