D\u2019abord, il y a l\u2019omnipr\u00e9sence de la guitare acoustique de <strong>David Freel<\/strong>, doubl\u00e9e par des stridences de 6 cordes \u00e9lectriques, en accords pointill\u00e9s ou en slide.<br \/>\nPuis, la batterie singuli\u00e8re de <strong>Sean Kirkpatrick<\/strong>, une partie originale pour chaque titre, le gars \u00e9crit ses lignes rythmiques avant m\u00eame la base m\u00e9lodique et dialogue avec l\u2019acoustique. Ensuite, la basse de <strong>Monte Vallier<\/strong>, souvent tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sente, se d\u00e9roule de mani\u00e8re hypnotique et harmonique.<br \/>\nLe groupe joue \u00e9galement avec les silences, alternant pauses et pointes d\u2019intensit\u00e9. La note non jou\u00e9e exprime autant que les autres&#8230;<br \/>\nEnfin, le chant de <strong>Freel<\/strong>, d\u00e9tach\u00e9 mais aussi sensible, passe du murmure \u00e0 l\u2019exclamation, du parler au chanter comme un <a href=\"https:\/\/culturesco.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/29\/lou-reed-prince-de-la-nuit-et-des-angoisses-i-m-waiting-for-the-man\/\"><strong>Lou Reed<\/strong> <\/a>de la c\u00f4te Ouest. D\u2019abord, l\u2019arriv\u00e9e dans le local des gars en montant l\u2019escalier, celui de la pochette, puis en final, le d\u00e9part, et bizarrement un r\u00e9citatif avec les paroles du disque. Il y a bien s\u00fbr le jeu et la frappe du gaillard sous influences de ses musiciens f\u00e9tiches : <strong>Pete de Feitas<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/culturesco.com\/index.php\/2022\/11\/23\/echo-and-the-bunnymen-lalbum-porcupine\/\"><strong>Echo And The Bunnymen<\/strong><\/a>), <strong>Sly<\/strong> <strong>Dunbar<\/strong>, <strong>Stuart Copeland<\/strong>, et <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carlton_Barrett\"><strong>Carlton Barrett<\/strong><\/a>. Il sera ensuite remplac\u00e9 pour la tourn\u00e9e par <strong>Niko Venner.<\/strong><br \/>\nEn pleine <strong>Britpop<\/strong> et alors que le <strong>Grunge<\/strong> perd son idole, l&rsquo;album sort chez <strong>American Recordings et<\/strong> <strong>Beggars Banquet. <\/strong>En France il est ardemment d\u00e9fendu par les Radios Ind\u00e9s comme<strong> Radio Campus Lille<\/strong>, les journaux <strong>Lib\u00e9ration<\/strong>, <strong>les Inrockuptibles<\/strong>, ou <strong>Lenoir<\/strong> sur<strong> France Inter<\/strong> qui d\u2019ailleurs proposera \u00e0 <strong>Swell<\/strong> une <strong>Black Session<\/strong> mythique.
