Goode de <strong>Chuck Berry<\/strong> est sans nul doute le plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre standard rock de l\u2019histoire de la musique. Au point d\u2019incarner le genre \u00e0 lui seul, et de devenir son ambassadeur le plus immuable. Sa cr\u00e9ation r\u00e9sulte de la culture et du v\u00e9cu de son auteur, quant \u00e0 sa l\u00e9gende, elle est le fruit d\u2019une multitude de reprises. Il y fait la connaissance de <strong>Muddy Waters<\/strong>, qui le recommande \u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/culturesco.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/01\/cadillac-records-jolie-petite-histoire-du-chicago-blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chess Records<\/a>, sa maison de disques. Si les fr\u00e8res Chess appr\u00e9cient essentiellement ses influences country, ils acceptent de le signer. C\u2019est \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque que le guitar-hero compose le titre <strong><em>Johnny B. Goode<\/em><\/strong>. Il n\u2019est publi\u00e9 que trois ans plus tard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La l\u00e9gende prend sa source dans la tradition du blues, et sa transmission par l&rsquo;\u00e9coute. En effet, Chuck Berry n\u2019a pas invent\u00e9 le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre riff de guitare qui le caract\u00e9rise. Depuis l\u2019aube du 20\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, ce dernier est pr\u00e9sent sur une vingtaine de titres, parfois jou\u00e9s au piano. Sauf que Chuck Berry, influenc\u00e9 par son idole<strong> T-Bone Walker<\/strong>, ainsi que par les sonorit\u00e9s de guitare du rock naissant, d\u00e9cide de rendre le riff plus dense en jouant deux notes en simultan\u00e9 sur deux cordes. Cette initiative va faire toute la diff\u00e9rence. S\u2019il transforme l\u2019expression <em>\u201cblack man\u201d<\/em> en <em>\u201ccountry man\u201d<\/em> pour les besoins de la diffusion, il s\u2019agit selon lui d\u2019un r\u00e9cit semi-autobiographique. Son succ\u00e8s, notamment aupr\u00e8s des autres musiciens, s\u2019explique par le fait que <em>Johnny B. Goode<\/em> retrace un peu l\u2019histoire de tout blues man, et de tout rocker vivant durant cette p\u00e9riode. Un titre r\u00e9sumant parfaitement leurs espoirs d\u2019ascension sociale par le biais de la musique.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chuck Berry &#8211; Johnny B. Le pianiste n\u2019est pas pr\u00e9sent sur l\u2019enregistrement final, c\u2019est Lafayette Leake qui se charge des ivoires. Goode<\/em> laissant imaginer un second pr\u00e9nom, est en fait inspir\u00e9 de <em>Johnny B. Simple<\/em>, un personnage de fiction cr\u00e9\u00e9 par le po\u00e8te militant <strong>Langston Hughes<\/strong>. Chuck Berry partage avec l\u2019auteur un id\u00e9al de vie et d\u2019ascension sociale pour les afro-am\u00e9ricains. Enfin, le nom <em>\u201cGoode\u201d<\/em> est directement issu de l\u2019adresse du lieu de naissance du guitariste. Chuck Berry a vu le jour au \u00ab\u00a02520 Goode avenue \u00e0 St Louis (Missouri)\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A sa publication, le 31 mars 1958, <em>Johnny B. Goode<\/em> ne conna\u00eet pas le m\u00eame succ\u00e8s que le titre Maybellene (premier num\u00e9ro 1 au Billboard de Chuck Berry). La vie sauve, certes. En revanche, il reste le grand oubli\u00e9 du rock primal. A l\u2019\u00e9poque, souvent confondus avec les Stones, ils poss\u00e8dent pourtant une \u00e9nergie distinctive et un son totalement garage.
